Can We Get Something To Eat, Please?

I am tired and hungry. Yesterday was Shabbot and all stores were closed. We thought we had prepared, but we ran short and had to have Cliff bars for dinner and then at the first store today we only picked up a bag of peanuts thinking we would find another store along the way, but we didn't and the only store in the town we are staying in tonight is closed. So it is now 5pm and we are starving and our only option tonight is the expensive restaurant where we are staying....Happy Mother's Day to Me!!!

So our journey today started in Iliniya. We had a meager breakfast of fruit and muesli and off we went. The locals at the goat farm told us that our walk today would be less "trashy" and they were correct. Our walk took us through some nice wooded areas and fields. The trail is not necessarily well marked and we missed a turn but took what our tour book said was an alternate route. We passed by a holocaust memorial.  Eventually, after passing over some rocky passes we got our first glimpse of the Sea of Galilee.  We then made an ascent to the top of a small mountain called The Horns of Hatten.  We took a small respite there and ate our bag of peanuts and enjoyed a great view of the Arbel cliffs which are next to the Sea.  It's quite a view.  Getting down the mountain was very steep and then we followed the trail straight into.....a fence.  It seems that within the last two weeks an impassable fence had been erected right over the trail.  Luckily we were able to follow the fence around until we were reunited with the trail. We then got to a point where we could take a short cut to Arbel or follow the traditional trail.  3k or 10k? Smart folks we are, we chose the latter. Had we known that the only store in town was closed when we would arrive we probably would have gone the short route.  Especially since the last part of the trail was straight uphill! We were quite exhausted.  A great treat at our guest house for the night was their pool.  It was quite cold and felt great to sit soaking our feet (Joan & Eric). Someone else needed to immerse his whole body (Ed).

The good news in all of this is that our long wait for dinner was worth it.  We ate a great feast with lamb, chicken and fish. We were also served numerous side dishes and shared a wonderful homemade chocolate cake and ice cream.  Hopefully, the morning will bring us better luck with the food situation as we traverse forward.
